Joe Burrow, Bengals go for 4-0 vs. KC in AFC title rematch

That was the same score for the Bengals’ overtime victory in Kansas City in this game last season. All-Pro Patrick Mahomes led the NFL with 5,250 yards passing and 41 TDs, helping the Chiefs reach the AFC championship game for the fifth straight season. Joe Burrow threw for 4,475 yards and 35 TDs and has led the Bengals to a 5-1 record in the playoffs over the past two seasons. With Burrow leading the way, the Bengals had the fifth-ranked passing offense in the league. Punter Tommy Townsend had an All-Pro season with a net of 45.6 yards.

Bengals want ball in Burrow's hands with ground game stalled

Meanwhile, the Bengals' run game has become something of a side dish to the main course. His 297.7 passing yards per game was second to Kansas City's Patrick Mahomes. “We still need to be able to run the ball better," he said. He logged just one 100-yard game, picking up 153 yards and scoring four touchdowns in a Week 9 win over Carolina. He suffered a concussion in the first half of a Week 12 win over Pittsburgh and missed the next two games.

Joe Mixon challenges NFL to coin toss over $13k fine for Week 18 TD celebration, Chad Johnson offers

Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon had some fun after a trip to the end zone with a coin flip celebration during a Week 18 win over the Baltimore Ravens. Let’s have a coin toss to pay this crazy fine for expressing myself. If it’s heads I’ll pay,” he wrote. If it’s heads I’ll pay. Bengals beat Ravens to avoid coin flip, set up home rematch

CINCINNATI — (AP) — Joe Burrow threw for a touchdown and Joe Mixon ran for another as the Cincinnati Bengals took advantage of four Baltimore turnovers to beat the Ravens 27-16 on Sunday and set up a rematch in the first round of the playoffs next week. Cincinnati avoided a coin flip to determine the site of its playoff game against Baltimore, which would have come into play had the Ravens won and the Los Angeles Chargers lost later Sunday at Denver. The Bengals were unhappy with the prospect of a coin flip costing them a home playoff game and mocked the rule change with a coin-flip celebration after Mixon's TD. But rather than go all-out for the slim chance of getting a home playoff game, Ravens coach John Harbaugh ensured the Bengals will see a somewhat different team when sixth-seeded Baltimore returns to Paycor Stadium next weekend. Cornerback Mike Hilton picked off Brown on Baltimore's next possession, giving the ball to the Bengals at the Ravens 30.

Bengals' Mixon celebrates TD with coin flip

CINCINNATI — (AP) — Joe Mixon and the Cincinnati Bengals are still flipping out over the NFL's plan to determine home-field advantage in the playoffs. Mixon referenced the NFL's decision to use a coin flip as a tiebreaker Sunday by celebrating a 1-yard touchdown run against the Baltimore Ravens by taking a coin out of his glove and flicking it. The league decided to add a coin flip to settle a potential playoff scenario after Monday night's game between the Bengals and Buffalo Bills was declared a no-contest after Bills safety Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest on the field. Bengals coach Zac Taylor made it clear this week the team isn’t happy with the league changing the rules. “When a game is canceled, you turn to winning percentage to clarify everything, so we don’t have to make up the rules.

Joe Mixon mocks NFL's AFC North playoff rule tweak with coin-flip TD celebration vs. Ravens

Joe Mixon's touchdown celebration against the Baltimore Ravens poked a little fun at the NFL's home-field advantage rule change. Taylor said the change wasn't fair or equitable to the Bengals compared to how it affected the rest of the AFC. "So, we have the opportunity to play for a coin flip that can only negatively impact us. We don't have the opportunity to play for a coin flip that positively impact us. While they may not like the rule, it would be a moot point if they beat the Ravens.

Fantasy Football Week 10 Analysis: Why you should keep Allen Lazard locked in lineups going forward

If you are new to this article series, I will be using my Expected Fantasy Points model to determine which players relied on volume or efficiency to produce for fantasy. In short, the two metrics that we will use each week are:Expected Fantasy Points (or xFP)Fantasy Points Over Expected (or FPOE = Actual Points - Expected Points)Why do these metrics matter? Why was he ranked outside of the top 12 in Expected Fantasy Points entering Week 9? In addition, he received a season-high 36 percent target share, leading all tight ends in fantasy scoring in Week 9. Quarterbacks: Fantasy Usage & EfficiencyLamar Jackson - Baltimore RavensIt has been a tumultuous season for Lamar Jackson.

wftv.com

Fantasy Football Fact or Fluke: Regression came for these players in Week 9 — but what should we expect going forward?

In football, we tend to think about touchdown regression. We heard a lot about regression during Week 9’s games. Going forward, Mixon should reasonably be expected to average just under one total touchdown per game given his current volume. He has four single-digit fantasy point games, three with over 20 fantasy points and one 10-point game. But until we get ourselves a fantasy point per air yards league, Davis is going to be boom or bust.

Fantasy Football Flashback, Week 9: Joe Mixon, Justin Fields lead most reliable players

Welcome to the latest edition of the Fantasy Football Flashback, where we celebrate the accomplishments of the week's most reliable players. Those who roster Joe Mixon or Justin Fields likely won their Week 9 matchup, as those two players posted the highest weekly totals of any players this season. The 26-year-old had been a disappointment on the ground entering Week 9, totaling just 432 yards and 3.3 yards per carry in his initial eight games. Fields should be close to unanimously rostered (currently at 70%) in fantasy leagues and is a trusted option going forward. The 28-year-old has been a viable RB2 for the past four weeks, going over 60 rushing yards in three of those games and amassing four touchdowns.

Fantasy Football Booms and Busts: Bengals hit the jackpot against Falcons in Week 7

The first NFL window on Sunday in Week 7 wasn't particularly fantasy friendly. Burrow went bananas against the Falcons, chucking for 325 yards and three touchdowns in the first half alone. Ja'Marr Chase broke the game for the second straight week (8-130-2) while Tyler Boyd added 8-155-1. The Falcons don't have a bye until Week 14, but Arthur Smith could use a timeout right now. In a year with more fantasy bricks than right answers, the Falcons look like another one of the wrong-answer teams.

Fantasy Football: Sit/Start tips for Week 7 of the NFL season

They've also allowed the most EPA/pass and the fifth-most fantasy points to outside receivers over the last month. The Browns defense ranks second to last in DVOA and has given up the third-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Tennessee has allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks and the eighth-fewest to running backs this season. Seattle continues to be the premier fantasy matchup this year, getting the second-most yards per play and allowing the third-most. FANTASY PLAYS: Players to start and sit for NFL Week 7

Can we finally start Tony Pollard.

Daily Fantasy Football Week 7: Lineup building blocks and undervalued options to target

They've allowed the third-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Jackson stands out with no Josh Allen or Jalen Hurts on the DFS slate, and Patrick Mahomes has a tough matchup. Yet, his salary remains the cheaper of the two this week despite a much more favorable matchup. He gets a Chargers defense that had allowed the most fantasy points to running backs this season before facing Denver's league-worst rushing offense Monday night. Seattle continues to be the premier fantasy matchup this year, getting the second-most yards per play and allowing the third-most.

Fantasy Football Six-Pack: Rhamondre Stevenson to continue to feast in Week 6

We'll have new fantasy pickups to chase in a few days; the waiver wire never takes a week off. The return of DeAndre Hopkins will obviously help Murray specifically and the team's offense generally, but that's still a week away. That's easily the highest rate in the league on such passes; in fact, only 13 other quarterbacks have completed better than 65.5 percent of their total attempts, regardless of depth. This week, he's facing a Cleveland defense that he roasted for 100 yards and two scores last November. Cincinnati won't actually face a top-10 run defense again until Week 12, so it's fair to feel cautiously/nervously optimistic about Mixon.

RB Joe Mixon, Zac Taylor clear the air about end of Bengals' Super Bowl loss

While every Cincinnati Bengals fan and player has sad and frustrating memories of the end of Super Bowl 56, running back Joe Mixon's memories are tinged with something more: regret. Officiating in Raiders-Bengals problematic at times

(AP Photo/AJ Mast) (AJ Mast)CINCINNATI — (AP) — What mostly was a tense game between teams with long playoff droughts was disrupted Saturday by some problematic officiating. The Bengals beat the Raiders 26-19 in an AFC wild-card matchup that ended Cincinnati's 31-year run without a postseason victory. The margin was Joe Burrow's 10-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Boyd late in the second quarter on which the quarterback barely was in bounds when he threw the ball. Players on the field for the Raiders, who haven't won a playoff game since taking the 2002 AFC championship, protested a bit — to no avail. The network's officiating analyst, Terry McAulay, believed the play should have been negated and the ball placed back at the Raiders 10.
