Local artist honors John Madden with a new mural at EA Sports Orlando studio
ORLANDO, Fla. — EA Sports surprised fans with the return of John Madden on the newest game cover of Madden NFL 23. However, that isn’t the only way EA is honoring the late sportscaster’s legacy. EA Orlando partnered with local artist Andrew Spear to design a five-story art piece that includes a Madden mural that pays homage to the iconic NFL coach, broadcaster and namesake of the EA Sports Madden NFL video game. The artwork spans five floors and works up the main staircase in the new EA Orlando studio in downtown Orlando’s Creative Village. Madden was the focus for the inaugural cover of the game, called “John Madden Football,” and released on June 1, 1988, Sports Illustrated reported. Sharks retain Bob Boughner as coach, removing interim tag
Sharks general manager Doug Wilson formally retained Boughner as San Jose's coach Tuesday, removing the interim tag to make him the ninth full-time head coach in franchise history. He’s very open-minded in looking to find solutions.”Boughner also hired Rocky Thompson as his associate coach and John Madden as an assistant coach. Mike Ricci, the former Sharks forward who became an assistant under Boughner, will be an NHL development coach. Thompson succeeded Boughner as the head coach at Windsor in 2015, and he won the Memorial Cup in 2017. He spent the past three seasons as head coach of the AHL's Cleveland Monsters, Columbus' top affiliate.
