The stars were back Tuesday for the Golden Globes' return to television, walking a soggy grayish carpet in relatively predictable looks — with a few notable exceptions. Heidi Klum, not long after her Halloween worm appearance, showed up in a sky-high silver sparkler with a feathery embellishment over one shoulder as the crowd was treated to a reprieve from rain that has plagued Southern California. Eddie Redmayne showed up in brown with a huge silk flower on one lapel, courtesy of Valentino.

Elle Fanning wanted to honor the creatives on her show, “Catherine,” so she wore a black and pink gown embellished at the chest designed by Sharon Long. “I’ve always been inspired by the Old Hollywood glam of the ’50s,” said Fanning, a first-time nominee. Indelicato's hair was bright red and his black tux sported long split tails like a train.

The organization that puts on the Oscars said Thursday that 395 film industry professionals, 46% of whom are women and 39% from an underrepresented group, have been invited to join the 2021 class. If they accept, which most do, they will have voting privileges at next year’s Oscars. With this new class, the Academy said its total membership is now 33% women and 19% underrepresented groups. The Academy has said it remains committed to broadening its own lens over the next few years.

She launched IndieCollect’s Jane Fonda Fund for Women Directors, an organization aimed to support the restoration of films helmed by women from around the world.

'Bad Hair' movie explores Black women and hairstyle messages

The dark comedy horror is “only a film," they say, but the story’s underlying messages of harmful hair weave and false beauty standards for Black women had a lasting effect. Ultimately, she discovers that her newly installed hair is possessed, taking over her body and causing harm to others. A weave is a popular method where hair wefts are sewn onto braided hair and styled in any manner. He said the writing process started with talking to some of his closest friends who are Black women.

The case, which will be heard on October 8, marks one of the most important cases of the upcoming Supreme Court term. Last month, the Justice Department reiterated to the Court that it does not believe that federal employment law that bans discrimination based on sex encompasses discrimination based on transgender status. News on the red carpet that the case would have implications beyond the LGBTQ community. Cox has frequently used her platform to advocate against LGBTQ discrimination.
