The optional essay adds about another hour and is scored separately, as were the lesser required subject tests given in specific areas like chemistry or foreign languages. The subject tests will immediately end for U.S. students and will be phased out for international students by June. The optional essay will be discontinued after June testing sessions.

Florida high school graduates have a second chance to boost their standardized test scores to earn the Bright Futures scholarship. Ron DeSantis issued an executive order to extend the deadline to qualify for the Bright Futures scholarship to Dec. 1, 2020. The order will allow the class of 2020 seniors three months to take the SAT or ACT. It relieved a lot of pressure knowing that I wont have as much debt when I graduate college, Kimpton said. The order will also allow students who qualify for the Bright Futures scholarship to apply fees for distance learning toward the scholarship.

The Florida Medallion Scholars scholarship requires a 3 Weighted GPA, 25 ACT score or 1210 SAT score with 75 hours of community service.
