Two killed in I-4 rollover crash in Volusia identified

Third person injured after car slams into pickup truck

DeBARY, Fla. – Two people were killed Monday night in a two-vehicle rollover crash on I-4 in Volusia County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The FHP said Ernest Stickle, 35, of Springfield, Missouri, and Shane Fleming, 21, of Sanford, died in the crash, which happened in the eastbound lanes of I-4 near Dirksen Drive in DeBary.

Payton Moose, 21, of Deltona, was critically injured in the crash, troopers said.

According to the FHP, a Ford Mustang driven by George Justiniano, 27, of Deltona, rear-ended a Ford pickup truck, which traveled into the westbound lanes. Stickle and Fleming, who troopers said were not wearing seat belts, were ejected from the pickup, according to the FHP. Both died at the scene.

Moose, a passenger in the pickup who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital after being extricated from the pickup, according to troopers.

Justiniano, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries, troopers said.

Charges are pending, according to the FHP.

I-4 reopened early Tuesday after debris was removed the interstate and troopers conducted an investigation.

Meanwhile, another crash occurred nearby around 2 a.m. Tuesday, sending a worker who was directing traffic to a hospital.  Officials said a vehicle struck the worker's car, injuring the worker.

No other details have been released.
