Orange County fire rescue able to free child from crash

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 5-year-old girl was rescued from under a vehicle on Tuesday evening, officials with the Orange County Fire Rescue said.

The girl was playing with other children near 2811 Abney Ave. at 4:17 p.m. when for an unknown reason she ran out in front of a vehicle and was hit, fire rescue officials said. The neighborhood is part of the Wedgefield area in unincorporated Orange County.

The girl was freed by Orange County Fire Rescue and airlifted to Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital. She is in series condition, but stable condition, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report.

A spokesperson with FHP said the crash appears to be a horrible accident and the driver is cooperating with authorities.

The crash remains under investigation.
