Motorcyclist killed in crash while racing in Daytona Beach, police say

Police search for silver Ford Mustang

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A motorcyclist was struck and killed Tuesday afternoon in Daytona Beach while street racing a driver in a Ford Mustang, which fled the scene, police said.

Authorities said Dylan Carvalho died in the crash, which was reported at 4:51 p.m. on South Nova Road at Woodcliff Drive.

According to Daytona Beach police, Carvalho was riding his motorcycle at a high rate of speed while racing a silver Mustang on Nova Road.

Police said a driver turned south onto Nova Road, and Carvalho tried to stop but laid down his bike.

Carvalho and his motorcycle struck the vehicle and were then hit by a Ford Escape, police said.

Carvalho was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver of the Mustang drove off and has not been found, police said.

No other details have been released.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Daytona Beach police.
