Troopers said Bridger was driving a 2005 GMC pickup and failed to notice that the tractor-trailer in front of him slowed for traffic. The pickup rear-ended the trailer, troopers said. Bridger was taken to South Lake Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the FHP said.

The driver of the big rig, a 47-year-old Winter Garden man, was not injured, the FHP said.

U.S. 27 was blocked in the area but was later reopened.
