OCALA, Fla. – A 60-year-old Florida man was struck and killed late Monday while standing or walking on a Marion County road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The fatal wreck happened around 11:40 p.m. on State Road 40 at SW 52nd Avenue in Ocala.

The FHP said the Quincy man was in the eastbound lane of State Road 40 in a dark area that was not illuminated by any lights when he was struck by a pickup truck driven by a 20-year-old Ocala man.
The pedestrian was taken to HCA Hospital Ocala, where he died, the FHP said.
According to troopers, the driver did not see the pedestrian and was unable to avoid striking him.
The driver pulled over and remained at the scene.
