Woman hit, killed while walking along I-95 in Brevard County on Christmas

Crash happened near mile marker 160 on Christmas Day

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A woman walking on Interstate 95 after exiting a disabled vehicle was struck and killed by another vehicle in Brevard County on Christmas, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a Mitsubishi Outlander was traveling northbound on Interstate 95 near mile marker 160 in the center lane around 9:38 p.m. after the victim — a 43-year-old Roseland, Florida woman — had gotten out of her disabled vehicle from a previous crash and was walking east.

According to a crash report, the woman’s vehicle from the previous crash was blocking the center lane facing south with no lights on.

The Outlander, driven by a 58-year-old Rockledge woman, swerved right to avoid the disabled vehicle but struck the woman, according to the FHP.

Troopers said the victim was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Outlander was not injured and remained on the scene.
