ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – One person was taken to the hospital Thursday morning after a vehicle went into a body of water along East Colonial Drive in east Orange County, according to fire rescue officials.

According to the Orange County Fire Rescue, units responded around 6:14 a.m. to a call of a vehicle in the water.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a vehicle went off the roadway and into the pond. Troopers said the driver was able to get out of the vehicle before first responders arrived.

The person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to FHP.

Law enforcement vehicles were blocking a few lanes but eventually cleared the area by 7 a.m.
