MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A pedestrian pushing a metal cart died after being struck by a vehicle in Marion County on Saturday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the fatal crash happened on U.S. 441 near SE 151st Street around 1:15 p.m.

According to a crash report, a Chevrolet pickup truck – being driven by a 57-year-old Inverness man – was traveling south on U.S. 441 in the outside lane.

At the same time, a person pushing the cart was walking south neat the outside lane with traffic.
Troopers said the right front of the pickup truck struck the pedestrian, causing the person to be thrown in a southwesterly direction before coming to a final rest on the west grass shoulder.
According to the crash report, the pedestrian was killed, but the FHP did not specify if they died at the scene or at the hospital. Troopers also said they do not yet know the person’s identity at this time.
