ORLANDO, Fla. – This week, communities across the country pause to recognize National Police Week, a time to honor and remember the law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

It’s a solemn yet powerful moment when departments of every size and shape, from rural towns to major cities, unite in remembrance.

Here in our own community, we’re taking time to reflect and pay tribute to those we’ve lost.

Throughout the week, we’ll be spotlighting local agencies and how they’re honoring their fallen heroes. Whether it’s a wreath-laying ceremony, a candlelight vigil, or a moment of silence during roll call, every gesture carries the weight of respect and remembrance.

We’ll also be keeping an eye on the national events happening in Washington, D.C., where officers, survivors, and supporters gather for days of commemoration and solidarity.

These events serve as a reminder that behind every badge is a life committed to service and sometimes, that service comes at the highest cost.

Join me as we kick off coverage of day one of Police Week. We’ll talk through what’s ahead, why this week matters, and how you can be part of honoring the brave men and women who stood for something bigger than themselves.

Let’s make sure their stories are never forgotten.
