VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A 60-year-old Ormond Beach man riding a motorcycle near Osteen died in a crash that left State Road 415 shut down in the area, according to the Florida Highway Patrol and Volusia Sheriff’s Office.
The fatal crash occurred around 7:15 a.m. Friday on S.R. 415 at Fort Smith Boulevard, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, a 2016 Ford Fusion was traveling east on Fort Smith Boulevard, approaching S.R. 415 in the left turn lane, as the Ormond Beach man rode the motorcycle southbound on S.R. 415, approaching Fort Smith Boulevard in the outside lane.
The Ford driver — identified as a 48-year-old Deltona man — attempted to make a left turn onto northbound S.R. 415, entering the direct path of the motorcyclist, the report states.
The front of the motorcycle struck the left side of the Ford as a result, troopers said.
The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to FHP.
The Deltona man suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized, the report states.
Troopers believe the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet during the crash.
Lanes were shut down in both directions of S.R. 415 as investigators worked the scene, with northbound traffic diverted to Howland Boulevard and southbound traffic using Noremac Avenue, the sheriff’s office said.
The roadway has since been cleared, troopers said.
FHP is still investigating.
