BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A woman was killed and three children, including an 8-month-old baby, were injured Monday in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Brevard County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The fatal wreck happened around 12:25 p.m. on I-95 south, just north of the Pineda Causeway and west of Palm Shores.
According to a crash report, a 2003 Ford F-350 was heading south on I-95 when it had a tire blowout, causing the driver to lose control and hit the side of a 2023 Honda Odyssey.
The wreck caused both vehicles to go off the road and hit a guardrail, troopers say.
A 32-year-old Titusville woman, identified by the FHP as Olivia Maggs, who was driving the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Honda was also carrying three children, the 8-month-old, a 3-year-old and 4-year-old. The infant was taken to the hospital with serious injuries while the other two children had minor injuries, according to the report.
The Ford F-350 driver, a 58-year-old New York man, and his passenger, a 20-year-old New York woman, were not seriously injured and and remained at the scene, the FHP said.
I-95 was shut down after the crash but later reopened.
The crash remains under investigation.
