Elderly Summerfield woman hit, killed in crash The crash occurred on US Highway 301, north of SE 169th Street

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – An 81-year-old Summerfield woman died after being hit by a car along US Highway 301 north of SE 169th Street early Sunday morning, Florida Highway Patrol said in a statement.
Troopers said the victim was walking across the northbound lanes of U.S. 301 when the Hyundai Elantra hit her.
A 24-year-old woman from Ocala was behind the wheel.
The incident happened at 1:30 a.m. and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, FHP said.
FHP is still investigating.
