Watch Trooper Steve on Patrol at the top of this story

BELLE ISLE, Fla. – Our “On Patrol” segments usually take us out on the roads, but today we’re trading pavement for open water. We’re teaming up with the Belle Isle Police Department, serving one of Central Florida’s most charming small cities known for its scenic neighborhoods and beautiful lakes.

Belle Isle may be small in size, but it’s big on natural beauty. With summer heat in full effect, its lakes become busy hubs for boating, fishing and fun. That’s where the Belle Isle Police Department’s marine unit comes in.

Today, we’re heading out on the water with their officers to talk about boating safety and share a few important reminders for anyone planning to hit the lake. Whether you’re a lifelong boater or trying it for the first time this summer, there are simple steps you can take to stay safe and make sure everyone has a good time.

Join us as we chat with the team about what they watch for on patrol, how they help keep boaters safe and the top tips they want everyone to know before launching. It’s a relaxed, real-world look at the work they do and a good chance to brush up on your own water safety plans this season.

Stay tuned for our conversation with the Belle Isle Police Department marine unit and make sure you’re prepared before heading out to enjoy our incredible local lakes.
