1 killed in fiery crash along I-75 in Sumter County, troopers say

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A pickup truck crashed and caught fire along Interstate 75 in Sumter County on Sunday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 8:10 a.m. as a Ford F-150 traveled south on I-75, troopers said.

According to a preliminary FHP crash report, the truck was bring driven by an unidentified male who failed to negotiate a curve just before exit 309 (County Road 476B). The Ford left the roadway, struck a tree, and caught fire, the report states.

The driver died at the scene, troopers said.
