ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 20-year-old Christmas man riding a bicycle on State Road 50 in Orange County was rear-ended and killed in a crash late Wednesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. as the bicyclist and the sedan that struck him were both traveling east on S.R. 50 (Colonial Drive) in the inside lane, approaching St. Catherine Avenue, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the bicyclist had no lighting, reflectors or reflective clothing. The car — driven by an 18-year-old Titusville woman with a 17-year-old Titusville girl riding as a passenger — struck the bicyclist as a result, the report states.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene while the passenger was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to FHP.

Troopers believe the man was not wearing a helmet during the crash.

FHP is still investigating.
