MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A dump truck struck an overpass early Wednesday, prompting the temporary closure of Interstate 75 in Marion County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The collision happened around 2:30 a.m. on I-75 south at County Road 320, north of Ocala.
The FHP said the truck’s raised bed struck the C.R. 320 overpass, sending debris onto the interstate and significantly damaging the overpass.
Southbound lanes of I-75 were completely shut down for hours before being reopened in full shortly before 10:30 a.m.
The driver, a 55-year-old Ocala man, was uninjured.
County Road 320 was also reopened, though traffic was restricted to one lane.
“Drivers should expect delays and use caution in the incident area as crews continue to work on repairs,” the FHP said in a statement.
No other details have been released.
