St. Cloud police arrest SUV driver in deadly hit-and-run crash

Crash occurred on US-192 near Tennessee Avenue

St. CLOUD, Fla. – A 32-year-old woman was arrested in connection to a deadly hit-and-run crash early Saturday.

Initially, St. Cloud police said they were looking for a vehicle — described as possibly newer-model Chevrolet Trax — that was reportedly the first of two vehicles that struck a man, later identified as Jason Gordon, attempting to walk across U.S. 192 (13th Street) around 4 a.m. Saturday.

The SUV was traveling west along U.S. 192 near Tennessee Avenue, toward Kissimmee, when the crash occurred, the a news release states. The driver of the second vehicle remained at the scene and has cooperated with investigators, police said.

According to a charging affidavit, Lindsay Collins was taken into custody on Monday evening after investigators said she was the driver of the Chevrolet.

Police said that Collins was unable to tell then where the Chevrolet was located and that “it was damaged by a rock or an unknown object” and had damage to the hood and windshield.

Collins faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident involving death.
