61-year-old motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run crash in Brevard County, troopers say

Crash happened on U.S. Highway 1 near Orbiter Court

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A 61-year-old Melbourne man was killed in a hit-and-run crash while riding a motorcycle in Brevard County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened before 11 p.m. Sunday on U.S. Highway 1 near Orbiter Court in Melbourne.

Troopers said the man was traveling north in the outside lane when an unknown vehicle struck the rear of the motorcycle.

The impact caused the motorcyclist to be thrown from the bike. The driver of the unknown vehicle fled the scene after the collision. The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, troopers said.

Troopers said the possible suspect vehicle is a Chevrolet Sonic, between 2012 – 2016, orange in color, and should have front-end damage as well as possible windshield damage.
