20-year-old motorcyclist killed in Orange County crash with Jeep, troopers say

Crash occurred on North Hiawassee Road and Hiawassee Meadows Drive

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Orange County Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at the intersection of North Hiawassee Road and Hiawassee Meadows Drive around 7 a.m.

According to FHP, a 2023 Jeep Compass was traveling westbound on Hiawassee Meadow Drive, approaching the intersection, when the driver attempted to make a left turn to head southbound on Hiawassee Road.

At the same time, troopers said a 2008 Ducati Superbike motorcycle was traveling northbound on Hiawassee Road just south of the intersection. The Jeep entered the direct path of the motorcycle, resulting in a collision.

The motorcyclist, a 20-year-old male from Orlando, was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Jeep, a 61-year-old male from Orlando, was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Troopers said the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and the Jeep driver was wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
