ROCKLEDGE, Fla. – A motorcycle rider from Rockledge died after crashing Saturday while allegedly being clocked at over 100 mph, according to police.

The motorcyclist — identified as 21-year-old Elijah Kit — was traveling southbound on Fiske Boulevard when the bike crashed into a Viera man who was heading west into the Phillips Landing Subdivision, police said in a statement.

Kit’s family has since established an online fundraiser for funeral expenses and medical bills.

Kit’s 18-year-old passenger — his girlfriend, according to the fundraiser — was airlifted to a hospital for surgery, the statement reads, adding she is expected to survive.

It’s unknown at the time of this report whether either of them were wearing a helmet during the crash, police said. It was also unknown if the crash was a road-rage or racing incident, the statement reads.

Fiske Boulevard was closed for around 3 hours due to the crash, according to police. Brevard County deputies and Cocoa police also responded to the scene, the statement reads.
