ROCKLEDGE, Fla. – A school crossing guard was struck and critically injured Thursday morning at a Rockledge elementary school, according to police.
The wreck happened at Golfview Elementary Magnet School.
“While directing traffic at Golfview Elementary School for the morning school zone, a Rockledge Police Department crossing guard was struck by a vehicle,” police said in a statement.
The crossing guard was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center and was in critical condition, police said.
On Thursday, the City of Rockledge Government posted an update on social media about the crossing guard, stating that Joyce Scarborough had been released from the ICU.
An investigation is ongoing, and no other details about the crash, including information about the driver, have been released.
