BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Part of Interstate 95 was shut down Thursday afternoon in Brevard County after a fatal crash north of Mims, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. at mile marker 232 along northbound I-95, leading to the interstate’s closure in both directions, FHP said.

Currently, the northbound lanes are still blocked, along with one southbound lane. FHP is urging travelers to prepare for traffic delays as they are diverted.
Northbound motorists were advised to take exit 231 to Deering Parkway (C.R. 5A), turn left onto U.S. 1, then to turn left onto State Road 442 (Indian River Boulevard) to reach I-95, according to the sheriff’s office.
FHP says the crash involved a semi-truck with a trailer and a 2004 Volvo truck. What caused the crash is under investigation, but in the aftermath of the crash, troopers say the semi overturned and struck a guardrail, and then became engulfed in flames.
The driver of that truck is dead.
The driver and passenger in the other vehicle were not hurt, troopers say.
Traffic cameras show what appears to be a truck on its side emitting smoke.
