OCALA, Fla. – A 68-year-old bicyclist was struck and killed by a pickup truck late Thursday in Ocala, police said.
The fatal wreck happened around 10:20 p.m. in the 2000 block of SW College Road near Target.
Ocala police said a Chevrolet pickup was traveling east on College Road and the bicyclist was on the south side trying to cross the road.
As the cyclist entered the eastbound lanes, the front of the pickup struck him, police said.

The man was taken to HCA for trauma care but died from his injuries, according to police.
“Our hearts go out to the bicyclist’s family and friends during this difficult time,” police said in a statement.
College Road was closed in the area after the crash but it was later reopened.
