ORLANDO, Fla. – With summer heat arriving in Central Florida, local agencies are reminding the community just how dangerous a parked vehicle can become for pets, even in a matter of minutes.
On this edition of Trooper Steve on Patrol, I joined Orange County Animal Services, Orange County Fire Rescue, and Orange County Sheriff’s Office as they came together for an educational demonstration on the dangers of leaving pets inside hot vehicles.
Officials showed how quickly temperatures inside a car can rise, leading to potentially deadly conditions for both pets and people. The event also focused on Florida’s Good Samaritan law and the steps civilians should take if they encounter an animal or person trapped in a dangerous situation.
The message from all agencies was clear: a few minutes can turn deadly fast in Florida heat.
Huge shoutout to all the agencies involved for working together to educate the community and help protect those who cannot protect themselves.
