Uber driver faces DUI after taking passenger on wild ride, police say

William Nieves accused of driving under the influence

EUSTIS, Fla. – An Uber driver is facing charges after police say he took a passenger on a wild ride in Lake County that ended in a crash. 

According to the Orlando Sentinel, William Nieves picked up a passenger early Saturday in Mount Dora.

The passenger said Nieves was speeding during the trip and kept swerving in and out of traffic. 

Police said the ride came to an end when Nieves crashed into a power pole in Eustis. 

Officers said they followed Nieves to a home along North Grove Street. 

Nieves was arrested and booked into the Lake County Jail. He is facing several charges, including driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a crash.
