Cruise passengers from Florida stranded in Caribbean after ship fails

Norwegian Jade not able to travel for days, cruise line says

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Hundreds of passengers who set sail from Florida are now stuck more than 1,000 miles from home.

The Norwegian Jade left Miami on Friday for a 10-night cruise through the Caribbean.

However, once the ship arrived at its first stop in San Juan, Puerto Rico, it developed mechanical problems.

The cruise line said the ship is experiencing propulsion and steering issues that will take days to fix.

Norwegian said all passengers must be off the ship by Tuesday and charter flights are being arranged for passengers.

Passengers will also get a refund.
