Star Meat Delivery Inc. recalls 167,000+ pounds of uninspected pork, beef, and goat products
A North Carolina meat company is recalling more than 167,000 pounds of raw pork, beef, and goat products after federal inspectors found the items were produced without federal oversight and stamped with a fake USDA seal. Star Meat Delivery Inc., based in Lucama, N.C., is pulling approximately 167,639 pounds of product from shelves, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Sept. 22, 2026. The recalled products carry a false USDA mark of inspection bearing establishment number "EST. 1363" — a number that holds no federal grant of inspection. FSIS said any product bearing that false establishment number should be considered misbranded and unsafe to eat. What's being recalled The products were distributed in bulk under the A&D Foods label, vacuum-sealed and packed into cardboard boxes. They were shipped to A&D Foods, a distributor in Georgia, for further distribution to retail and restaurant locations nationwide. Items include a wide range of cuts and products: Goat cut and goat burn skin-on cut Slice ribeye Beef chuck thin sliced Beef oxtail cut Beef short ribs (multiple cuts) Beef ribs 4-bone Beef feet cut Pork ground, chorizo, chops, feet, hocks, and multiple Boston butt cuts Pork rib pieces Menudo mix The products were produced on various dates prior to Sept. 22, 2026. Individual consumer packages at retail locations may carry store-applied stickers with pricing and safe handling instructions rather than the original A&D Foods labeling. FSIS said it may update the product list and labels as more information becomes available. How the problem was found FSIS discovered the issue during routine surveillance activities. There have been no confirmed reports of illness or injury linked to these products. Why uninspected meat is dangerous Meat produced without federal inspection may contain undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria, or other contaminants that put consumer health and safety at risk, FSIS said. What you should do Consumers who purchased these products should not eat them. Throw them away or return them to the place of purchase. Retailers and restaurants should not sell or serve these products. Anyone concerned about an illness should contact a healthcare provider. FSIS is conducting recall effectiveness checks to confirm that customers have been notified and that the product is no longer available to consumers. A retail distribution list will be posted at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls when available.
