High wind and showers set to hassle Central Florida. Here’s how long it will last

After the chill Tuesday morning, we rebounded nicely. Our daytime high in Orlando got back to normal when we hit 74!

Our current high-pressure system is undergoing a shift towards the northeast, leading to a change in wind patterns and altering weather conditions throughout the region.

As the wind begins to sweep in from the Atlantic along our coastline, the likelihood of encountering sprinkles or showers increases, with a 20% chance of precipitation expected across our coastal areas in East Central Florida on Tuesday night into Wednesday.

On Wednesday, this setup is poised to bring about breezy to windy conditions, possibly necessitating Wind Advisories, especially along the coast.

Sustained wind speeds of 20-30 mph, accompanied by gusts reaching 35-45 mph, may prompt cautionary measures.

Coastal hazards, such as strong rip currents, sizable breaking waves, minor coastal flooding, and beach erosion, are anticipated. Look out for potential issuances of High Surf Advisories, High Risk of Rip Currents, and Coastal Flood Advisories.

Thursday maintains a 20-30% chance of rain, with mostly cloudy skies prevailing. Temperatures are expected to linger in the 70s, and overnight lows may dip into the 60s, possibly reaching the upper 50s in cooler northern locales.

Heading into the weekend, the weather could become more dynamic as we monitor the development of a low-pressure system over the south to southeast Gulf of Mexico.

There’s a possibility it may traverse Florida, bringing with it a period of wet and windy weather characterized by strong onshore flow and the potential for heavy rainfall. A marginal risk of excessive rainfall is in effect for Saturday.

If robust onshore winds persist, adverse conditions such as dangerous boating and surf conditions, coastal flooding, and beach erosion may persist throughout the weekend.

Rain chances climb to 50-60% from Melbourne to Lake Kissimmee southward and 40-50% northward on Saturday, peaking at 60-70% area-wide on Saturday night. Rain chances see a slight reduction on Sunday and Monday.
