ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida saw one of its coldest Christmases on record last year, so the big question in 2023 is whether there will be a repeat performance.
It’s a good bet that most of the country will likely be sizzling -- relative to normal -- in the days leading up to Christmas. A good chunk of the country that is used to seeing snow may struggle to get a white Christmas.

The warmth should also be no stranger to Florida, too, this Christmas. At the very least, it doesn’t appear that it will be bitterly cold like it was in 2022.
Pictured below is the European model ensemble mean. The red indicates warm temperature anomalies.
Different initial conditions are put into each member of the ensemble to arrive at a solution.
When multiple ensembles suggest a similar solution, there is higher confidence in the forecast outcome.
Most long-range forecast models, including the European ensemble, show warmer temperature anomalies across the Southeast this Christmas.
Christmas should be closer to a “normal” one for Central Florida, which would put temperatures in the low-to-mid 70s.
Of course, being nearly two weeks away, a lot can change with the weather, but the signal is there for a warmer, or at least average, Christmas in the temperature department.
High pressure also looks to be anchored across the Southeast, which would help to promote dry weather as well.
