Year-end cold snap brings coldest air of season to Central Florida. Here’s how low temps will get

Areas to see lows in low 40s, upper 30s through weekend

ORLANDO, Fla. – It’s time to pop off the tags of those newly-gifted sweaters and jackets and get them ready for a year-end cold snap that will bring the coldest air of the season across Central Florida!

The first of several fronts has made its way through the area late Thursday night, with the next one passing through by Friday afternoon. This parade of fronts will continue to reinforce a cooler-than-normal trend through the end of the year and into 2024.

Friday’s front looks to remain mainly dry with cloudy and breezy conditions along the leading edge. Highs are forecast to stay in the upper 50s most of the day with some areas maxing out in the low 60s. Clearing skies by Friday night will allow temperatures to tumble with lows in the low 40s across much of the area and upper 30s for Volusia, Flagler, Marion and northern Lake counties.

Expect the calm and cool weather pattern to continue through the New Years weekend.

Sunday and Monday mornings look to be the coldest of the nights! Most locations north of Orlando will fall into the mid- to upper-30s on Sunday morning, while most other areas will be in the low 40s. The chance for patchy frost will be in the forecast for Marion and Flagler counties Saturday morning, with a more widespread chance for areas generally north of the Leesburg to Deltona line on Sunday morning.

Highs through the rest of the year will struggle to reach 60 degrees on Saturday and Sunday, and near 70 by Jan. 1.
