Enjoy the calm before the storm: Gorgeous end to the weekend but rains approach

Here’s your forecast

ORLANDO, Fla. – If you managed to step outside for any reason whatsoever this Sunday evening, you did things RIGHT! The clouds have cleared, the sun was shining, and the sunset was spectacular to end your weekend.

The infrared satellite tonight does an outstanding job of highlighting the progress of the weak cool boundary and clearing skies for much of Florida to its entirety (Copyright 2025 by WKMG ClickOrlando - All rights reserved.)

The weak front which passed through yesterday absolutely did its thing, and as a result we have dry air prevailing over much of Central Florida which is responsible for the wonderful conclusion we witnessed to our Sunday together.

Tomorrow looks to bring much of the same as we wander into the start of the new work week ahead. Little in the way of clouds are expected to begin Monday, however slowly but surely they’ll start to build back in once our wind direction switches back to its textbook direction from the east.

As we move through Monday and into the first full week of March, the weather will begin to shift.

From there, winds will shift back to the east, driving our warmth and moisture up through the first half of the week leading up to another big storm system expected for Wednesday. Currently, Storm Prediction Center gives little faith in any of the thunderstorms that are expected to fire across the Dixie Alley making it into our neighborhood.

However, we should continue to monitor, as the ingredients for rain and storms will be present Wednesday afternoon. The timing of the approaching cold front will be pivotal in whether or not we realize any of the extra rainfall let alone thunder or lightning.

The euro and the GFS alike both have confidence some of the showers and storms along the tail end of the approaching cold front will make it down into our viewing area (Copyright 2025 by WKMG ClickOrlando - All rights reserved.)

Models do suggest it will be a first half of Wednesday type affair. The cold front will be diving south through the panhandle and big bend areas of Florida, before settling in to our viewing area potentially around the lunch hour. If this does come together, the heating of the day and moisture being pumped in from the Atlantic will help fuel our rain chances.

Widespread rain is likely to move in, right along the nose of that cooler air mass. The further north you go the greater the risk for heavier rain and of course thunderstorms (Copyright 2025 by WKMG ClickOrlando - All rights reserved.)

In the meantime, clouds are going to hang around for a bit thanks to this weak boundary attempting to pick up additional steam and get through the Florida area. Expect little rain, and decent temperatures throughout the day. A textbook pseudo spring weekend for all of us!
