ORLANDO, Fla. – You’ll want to keep the umbrella handy on Wednesday.
An upper-level low and a frontal system are teaming up to pull tropical moisture across Central Florida.
This setup is forecast to drive rain chances to between 80% and 90%, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.
This unsettled weather pattern comes as moisture streams into the region, setting the stage for repeated rounds of showers and storms across Central Florida.
Whether you’re commuting, heading out for errands, or just looking to keep outdoor plans dry, it’s a good idea to check in on the radar throughout the day.
A few spots could see a few inches of rainfall, and there’s a marginal risk for minor flooding in low-lying locations. Keep an eye out for standing water, especially if you live in areas that tend to collect runoff during storms.
As for temperatures, even with the clouds and showers, much of Central Florida is still expected to reach the upper 80s and low 90s.
Watching the Gulf for tropical development
In addition to rain and storms, Michelle Morgan and the News 6 weather team are monitoring a broad area of the northern Gulf of Mexico.
The National Hurricane Center currently gives this region a 10% chance of tropical development over the next seven days.
While that’s a low risk in the short term, this same area is helping to pump extra moisture into Central Florida on Wednesday and Thursday.
