Isolated downpours possible amid near-record highs

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida is experiencing a stretch of extreme heat, with a heat advisory currently in place for the entire region.

Heat Advisory

Actual high temperatures are topping out in the upper 90s, and “feels like” readings are forecast to reach between 106 and 112 degrees.

The UV index is rated as extreme, meaning you can sustain a sunburn in as little as 10 minutes — skin protection is a must.

Next several days

High temperatures and a stubborn high-pressure system are expected to keep rain chances low across most of Central Florida for the next few days. However, isolated downpours remain possible, mainly during the afternoon hours as sea breezes get going. There should be about a 20% chance of rain for most afternoons, so while most of the area will stay dry, a few quick showers can’t be ruled out.

Planner

The seven-day outlook suggests that these limited rain chances will persist, with only a slight uptick possible by next weekend. Any afternoon showers are likely to be brief and isolated.

Tropics remain quiet for now

The tropics are currently quiet, there’s nothing concerning being tracked at the moment.
