Dry weekend for Central Florida before next front arrives

Here’s why you should get out and enjoy!

ORLANDO, Fla. – If you had a chance to look at the radar today, you probably closed your app within that very same second. If you aren’t one to look at a weather radar, at least when you’re out and about here in Central Florida, don’t fret – you didn’t miss much.

Dry air has overtaken the state from up north. High pressure is draped across the eastern side of the Appalachian mountains to our north, with its reach extending across our peninsula.

This has upped our temperatures some, and especially increased some of the humidity where we can feel it down at ground level. But as soon as you ascend above where we are, the air dries out and quickly.

Take advantage of the awesome weather tonight in Central Florida, get outdoors with friends and family if you’ve got the ability to do so. Definitely dress light however, because that mugginess that Florida is practically symbolic for will sit right on top of you.

The last thing you want to do is sweat through a stunning outfit on your Saturday night.

Tomorrow looks like a rerun of today. As dry air continues to move in from up north and east, skies will remain partly cloudy and rain will be fairly scarce. We could see some very light rains try to develop during the warmest parts of the day.

Thanks to our easterly wind blowing in from the east coast into interior Florida, as some moisture tries to work across our viewing area the potential for a pop-off shower is there, but nothing widespread or heavy.

Temperatures will be much of the same, mid-to-upper eighties. It’s truly the humidity that makes it feel much warmer than what it is outside. I promise you, our actual air temperatures have come down when compared to the likes of the heart of summertime.

But because we’re borrowing a combination of continental air and tropical air, humidity levels will stay somewhat elevated. High pressure also provides us with an extra dose of sinking motion in the atmosphere coming from the top down.

It's the humidity through Central Florida that will really make it feel warmer than it is. While high pressure tends to cause warmer air temperatures, the humidity makes it the most uncomfortable when trying to take advantage of outdoor activities. (Copyright WKMG 2025)

As air falls towards the surface, it actually warms up as it does so.

So definitely get out if you’d like to the beaches, the pools, or the water parks before temperatures really do start to close in on cooler than your average Florida day. Especially since this upcoming Monday marks the official calendar start of the fall season!

While hurricane season remains incredibly tame for the likes of this time of year, spooky season is fast approaching as is the rest of the holidays ahead.

By Tuesday of your new work week, it does seem like we’ll see a bit of a reconfiguring of our local weather pattern. Moisture will try to sneak in from the south once over, and up our rain chances during your Tuesday, Wednesday, and possibly Thursday.

We can talk about that tomorrow, right now let’s enjoy another great weekend!
