Tropical Storm Humberto has formed in the Atlantic

The NHC will begin issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Humberto

ORLANDO, Fla. – As of 5 p.m. Wednesday, Tropical Storm Humberto has officially formed in the Atlantic, upgraded from Invest 93L earlier today.

It has winds of 40 mph moving to the west-northwest at 15mph

On Wednesday afternoon, Humberto became better organized as it tracked a few miles east of the Leeward Islands.

Conditions look favorable for the storm to continue strengthening as it heads into the western tropical Atlantic over the next few days.

Southwest of Humberto is the second wave, which remains the primary focus for Floridians. As of Wednesday morning, the wave remains over the northeastern Caribbean, bringing heavy rainfall to Puerto Rico Dominican Republic and the Virgin Islands.

Development chances are lower in the short term (30% over 48 hours), but increase significantly later this week, up to 80% over the next seven days.

The next named storm of the 2025 Hurricane season is Imelda.
