ORLANDO, Fla. – Relief from the heat may finally be on the horizon, with a cold front expected to bring cooler, more comfortable temperatures by the weekend.
But before that happens, we have to get through a few more unsettled and potentially hazardous days of weather.
Monday
Expect a wet and potentially hazardous start to the week. Fast-moving showers off the Atlantic are expected throughout the day, with the potential for heavy rain and localized flooding, especially where showers line up over the same areas.
Rain chances are high today (around 60–70%), and some locations could see up to 1-2 inches of rain.
A flood watch remains in effect for coastal counties through Monday evening.
In addition to the rain, dangerous beach and marine conditions will continue all week. Life-threatening rip currents, rough surf with waves up to 5-6 feet, and minor to moderate beach erosion are expected, especially around high tide.
Minor coastal flooding could impact low-lying roads, docks, and yards near the shore and intracoastal waterways.
Tuesday & Wednesday
Starting Tuesday, rain chances will drop slightly as some drier air moves in with highs running near normal in the upper 80s.
Weekend
Looking ahead to the weekend, a cold front is forecast to sweep through, bringing cooler temperatures and a touch of fall to the area.
As the front approaches, rain chances will rise again to 50-60% Friday. Once the front cleats, highs will dip into the low to mid-80s, with lows dropping into the 60s by Sunday.
