More drenching rain flows into Central Florida. When does that cold front arrive?

Flooding concerns a real issue along the coast

ORLANDO, Fla. Central Florida is in for more rain Friday, and flooding remains a top concern.

Thankfully, relief is on the was as a refreshing dose of fall air arrives this weekend.

Friday Forecast

Showers and storms are expected throughout the day as a tropical air lingers over the region. Expect rain chances to remain high at 60-80%, with the heaviest downpours likely along the coast.

Many areas could see 1 to 3 inches of rain, but some spots may pick up more than 5 inches before the day is done.

Rainfall Forecast

Northeast winds will blow at 10 to 15 mph, with gusts near 25 mph. Cloud cover will keep temperatures a bit cooler than normal, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.

Flooding Threats

Because the ground is already saturated from recent rainfall, it won’t take much more for flooding to develop.

A Flood Watch remains in effect for coastal counties through Friday evening, especially in low-lying or poorly drained areas.

Along the beaches, conditions remain dangerous. Persistent onshore winds and higher than normal high tides will keep the threat for rip currents, rough surf and salt-water coastal flooding.

Flood Watch

A Coastal Flood Warning continues for Volusia and northern Brevard counties, and beach erosion is likely.

Coastal Flood Warning

Saturday

The developing low off the coast will move northeast by Saturday, pushing a cold front through the state. That will help cut rain chances to about 30–40% through Saturday morning. Winds will shift to the north-northwest and become gusty (25-30mph).

Wind Gust Forecast

Coastal conditions will stay rough through Saturday, with continued flooding and strong rip currents. Avoid the beaches if possible.

Sunday-Next Week

Relief arrives Sunday as drier air filters in behind the front. Rain chances drop and will stay low well into next week. Highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s on Sunday, warming slightly to the low to mid-80s by Monday.

Fall Temp Trend

Overnight lows will settle comfortably in the 60s, giving Central Florida a perfect first real taste of fall.

Coastal flooding and rip currents should slowly improve early next week, though hazards may linger through Sunday due to higher tides and long-period swells.
