ORLANDO, Fla. – Changes are underway Thursday as a cold front slides toward the Southeast.

As the front approaches, southwesterly winds will drag in warmer and more humid into Central Florida. Moisture levels will rise through the afternoon and evening, setting the stage for scattered showers to develop.

Through the morning and early afternoon, a few onshore showers may brush the coastline. As the day goes on, additional scattered showers could develop and drift toward the north and northeast.

Rain chances are not especially high, with coverage expected to stay at 20-40%.

It will continue to feel warm, with afternoon highs reaching the upper 70s to low 80s.

Friday-Weekend

The cold front approaches on Friday and moves through during the afternoon or early evening. This front is expected to pass with little fanfare, as most showers and storms should remain offshore. Temperatures stay above normal during the day, with highs in the upper 70s.

High pressure then builds in and brings onshore winds back quickly on Saturday. The weekend overall looks mostly dry, with warm afternoons in the upper 70s to low 80s and cooler nights in the 50s to low 60s.

A brief coastal shower over the water cannot be ruled out, but widespread rain is not expected.

Christmas Week

Looking ahead to early next week, another area of high pressure strengthens, leading to breezier conditions.

As we head closer to Christmas, winds ease somewhat and dry weather continues, with temperatures holding near or slightly above normal in the mid- to upper 70s.
