ORLANDO, FLa. – It’s been bone-dry across the region, so we’ll gladly take any rain we can get.
A cold front is set to boost rain chances through Friday and into early Saturday morning, with periods of heavier downpours at times.
Widespread flooding isn’t a big concern thanks to our very dry soil and vegetation. That said, a little ponding is possible in low-lying or poorly drained areas during the heaviest rain.
Overnight temperatures will stay mild, settling into the 50s and 60s. Winds, however, will stay gusty — especially along the coast where gusts could reach 25 to 30 mph through Saturday.
Showers may linger into Saturday morning with a few isolated downpours, followed by a brief lull. Skies stay mostly cloudy and breezy, with highs climbing into the 70s. As the front exits and sea breezes kick in, a few additional showers and storms could bubble up.
There is a Marginal Risk for parts of Brevard and Osceola counties on Saturday. A few storms could turn strong to severe, bringing gusty winds up to 50 mph, heavy rain, frequent lightning, and small hail. The tornado threat remains low, but not zero.
Looking ahead, drier air returns next week, and temperatures rebound back into the 80s.
