ORLANDO, Fla. – Sunday is a very important day so let’s help you plan it to go off without a hitch!
The first half of our Mother’s day will be muggy and warm but on the dry side of things. If you have any outdoor plans with mom, such as a beach day or a nice outdoor brunch, if it is planned before lunchtime, it will be dry. After we cross the noon hour, spotty storms will start to develop around the I-75 corridor and push to the ENE. These scattered storms will dance around Central Florida for the remainder of the afternoon, with a stronger emphasis right along the coastline as our SW winds interact with a weak Atlantic sea breeze.
Some of these storms could be on the strong to severe side as we are under a marginal risk for severe weather. That is a level one out of five.
Threats to watch out for are frequent lightning, gusty winds up to 50mph, and heavy rainfall. These storms will start to wind down after sunset.
Your Monday will be a copy and paste with scattered afternoon storms with a severe weather threat in the mix. A marginal severe weather risk has extended into Monday as a cold front moves into northern Florida. Expect a similar shower setup, moving from WSW to ENE, with slightly more coverage as the front begins to make the journey into Central Florida. Highs will hover in the low-mid 90s with heat indices around 100 degrees before rain cools us off.
