ORLANDO, Fla. – Showers and storms Monday afternoon has primarily favored Volusia County beaches this afternoon thanks to our southwest winds pinning the sea breeze right along the coastline. These showers and storms will hover over the coastline until around 9-10pm and either push offshore or fizzle out after that. Lows tonight will only drop down into the upper 70s to low 80s under partly cloudy skies.
Your Tuesday will feature a similar weather plan as our southwest winds persist. Expect a dry start to your day with a mix of sun and clouds through lunchtime. This will allow highs to hit the mid 90s with “feels like” temperatures between 100ºF-105ºF. Spotty storms will spark up from I-75 to I-4 between 1-4pm. After 3pm, showers and storms will heavily favor I-95 and the immediate coastline where they will stay until sunset.
A building ridge of high pressure in the mid-upper levels of the atmosphere spells for more heat in Central Florida.
By week’s end, feels like temperatures will be in the 105ºF-107ºF range.
The National Weather Service has issued an elevated risk for extreme heat for the rest of the week and into the weekend. If you have any outdoor activities, be sure to stay well hydrated and take breaks indoors to cool off.
