ORLANDO, Fla. – Showers and storms return to start off our work week before a thicker round of Saharan Dust enters Central Florida to dry us out and heat us up.
Tonight
Showers and storms worked over out atmosphere a little earlier than usual with strong intensity. This has helped to stabilize our atmosphere. The strongest of the storms is now behind us. We will keep the light, stratiform rainfall scattered around Central Florida until sunset. After 9pm, rain chances fall off and we will enjoy a dry overnight with temperatures in the mid-upper 70s.
Monday
Lingering moisture will prevail over the entering Saharan Dust to once again give us a decent shot of showers and thunderstorms from west to east in the afternoon. Rain chances become more favorable the farther north you go as the dust continues to flow in from the south, beginning to eat away at the moisture we have. We will still see about a 40-50% chance of storms. Due to the onset of more dust, coverage will be a little lower than Sunday afternoon’s deluge. Highs will hit the low 90s before cooling storms fill our skies.
Mid-Week
Saharan Dust shows out in full force by mid-week, alongside a ridge of high pressure building over the state in the upper levels of the atmosphere.
This pair together spells a drier and hotter pattern for Central Florida. Temperatures return to the mid-upper 90s with lower rain chances. Air quality will also be on the downward trend as this plume of dust is noticeably thicker than previous spells.
