ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida trends drier for Sunday Funday and into the first week of school as drier air and a ridge of high pressure build over the state.
Sunday
Drier air will begin filtering into Central Florida Sunday, but we will still have enough instability to get scattered sea breeze showers and storms in the afternoon. We will start the day off mostly dry with a mix of sun and clouds. The sea breeze will begin developing spotty storms around1-2pm east of I-4. These storms will push west over the I-4 corridor right around 3pm, and try to push towards I-75. Storms will move northwest. With the drier air in play, storm coverage will be spotty to scattered. Highs will hit the low-mid 90s.
Next Week
A ridge of high pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere continues to build over the state next week, helping to stabilize our atmosphere. This, combined with the drier air, will create the perfect recipe for much drier and hotter conditions for the first week of school. Rain chances will lower to 20-30% for the week ahead with highs climbing back into the mid 90s each afternoon.
