ORLANDO, Fla. – The National Hurricane Center designated an area of disturbed weather in the Central Atlantic as Invest 92 L.
Once designated an invest or area of investigation, specialized hurricane models begin running on the disturbance.
An area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms continues to move westward through the Central Atlantic.
Conditions are expected to become more favorable for development during the next couple of days and a tropical depression is likely to form.
The NHC gives this tropical wave a 70% chance for development.
The first models for newly-designated 92 L will be available Tuesday evening.
Elsewhere in the Atlantic, a trough of low pressure northeast of Bermuda has been designated as Invest 93L. Gradual development is possible before the system reaches the cooler waters of the North Atlantic.
Development chances are up to 20%.
There are no immediate threats to Florida.
The next name is Cristobal.
The peak of hurricane season is Sept. 10.
