ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida’s heat wave is showing no signs of letting up, with another Heat Advisory in effect Wednesday and more dangerous heat expected through the weekend.
Highs will reach the low to mid 90s, while humidity pushes heat indices as high as 108 to 112 degrees.
Rain chances will remain below normal Wednesday, with a 20 to 50% chance of afternoon and evening showers and storms. Most areas will stay dry, but a few stronger storms could produce frequent lightning, wind gusts of 30 to 50 mph, and locally heavy rainfall.
WEEKEND
The heat becomes even more persistent Thursday through Saturday. Highs will remain in the low to mid 90s, with heat indices near or above Heat Advisory criteria.
Widespread Moderate to Major Heat Risk, along with areas of Extreme Heat Risk, is expected each day. Additional Heat Advisories are likely, especially through Friday.
Storm chances will stay limited, generally 40% or less, as dry air in the middle and upper levels of the atmosphere suppresses widespread rain. A few afternoon storms will still develop where sea breezes and outflow boundaries collide, bringing the usual risks of lightning, gusty winds, and heavy downpours.
