ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida is in for another stretch of dangerous heat with fewer afternoon storms. A heat advisory is in effect Thursday, and the hot, muggy pattern is expected to continue through the weekend and into next week.
Thursday
A mix of sunshine and clouds will help temperatures climb into the mid to upper 90s, with heat indices reaching 108 to 112 degrees. A Heat Advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
A few afternoon and evening storms will develop as the sea breeze pushes inland, with a 30% to 50% chance of rain and storms. Most areas will stay dry, but stronger storms could produce frequent lightning, wind gusts up to 50 mph, and heavy downpours.
The drier air aloft from Saharan dust will keep storm coverage limited, and most activity should fade by around 8 p.m.
Friday Through Sunday
The heat remains the bigger story. Highs will stay in the mid to upper 90s, with heat indices again reaching 108 to 112 degrees. Additional Heat Advisories are likely through at least Saturday.
Storm chances will remain below normal, generally 20% to 40%.
A Major Heat Risk will continue, with some areas facing Extreme Heat Risk.
Early Next Week
Not much relief is expected Monday through Wednesday. Hot and muggy conditions will continue with below-normal rain chances, and a Major Heat Risk is likely across much of Central Florida each day.
